Around Christmas time hubby came home with season 1 of the US series, Boardwalk Empire that he'd found in our local second hand DVD shop. Not having Sky we hadn't seen it before, but had heard great things about it, so were keen to dig in.

Set in 1920s Atlantic City during a time of prohibition, gangsters and fantastic tailoring, the series follows the exploits of money hungry, bootlegging gangsters and unscrupulous and immoral politicians as they conduct their schemes to make money, dishonestly.Take it from me though, if you're easily offended then it's not the programme for you, graphic in violence, sexuality and language it isn't one for the faint hearted.

This series is totally addictive, it's glamorous, gritty and extremely well written. We got through series 1 in no time, simply because we couldn't leave it alone and always wanted to watch more, more, more. Since then, we've procured season 2 on eBay and have made a pretty significant dent in that too. It's gone from strength to strength and I really can't recommend it enough.

I watched one and two but I lost interest when it went a bit weird - if you haven't got to the bit I mean yet, you will know what I mean when you watch it. I recorded S3 on the Sky Plus and I skipped through a couple of episodes and deleted the rest. It really was fab until about half way through S2.
I've started watching it, but then life became really hectic, so I forgot about them. I think I need to start again, because it's my favorite era))
I'll be watching for that one! How I love period pieces.
